March 3, 2008                  Stated Meeting                   Fried Chicken

This is the Monday following the Big NASCAR race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  Many of our Brothers attended the race and tended the Booth we had been given.  Some worked all three days.  As always there was a special thanks to the ladies that came along and worked.  The Brothers were particularly grateful to Curtis Swanson’s daughter, Darcie.

I heard some of the Brothers remarking on the attire of some of the Race Patrons.  Apparently there was a lady wearing just chaps with a halter top and another woman was walking around in 6 inch stiletto heels.

Our Dinner tonight was Fried Chicken in a big box.  Junior Warden, Phil Michaelson also managed to rescue some of the Chicken Fried Steak and Ham from last week and had heated that up also.  I was sitting next to Brother Bob Storbo.  Bob said the Chicken Fried Steak was a lot more moist this week than it had been last week.

All of the Lodge Officers were present to confer these Degrees.  In addition Six Past Masters were in attendance.  Bud Banks of the Grand Lodge was with us before Lodge opened but I’m not sure if he sat in on the meeting.

March  17, 2008                    Master Mason

Traditionally March 17 is Saint Patrick’s Day and is celebrated quite strenuously here in Las Vegas.  This particular Saint Patrick’s Day seemed to pass quietly.  I don’t recall seeing much of the wearing of the Green.

This night our own Richie Laursen was Raised to the Master Mason Degree.  This being Spring Break time of the year we were all pleased to see Jacob Lewis in attendance.  In addition we had with us Jim Marsh.  Jim has owned the local Jeep Dealership for many years and has also operated some local Casinos.  Jim has appeared on TV Commercials with his daughter Stacey. His signature footwear is the old fashioned two tone wingtip shoes.

March 24, 2008                      Three Fellowcraft

This evening I was very much surprised to find all three of our most recent Entered Apprentices preparing for the Second Degree.  It seemed unusual that all three could complete profiencies in so short a period of time.
